Anti- Gravity

One of the ways scientists are planning to create flying cars, is
by using a form of anti- gravity. Anti- gravity involves levitating a super
conducting disc above a powerful magnet. They want to place the super conducting
disk on the bottom of cars and then line the streets with the magnet so that the
car will repel the road and cause it to float above earths surface. So, the car
won't technically be flying, but just levitating. The vehicle will still have to
follow the roads. But, by having cars drive on the streets and levitate in the
air above, traffic will be decreased immensely.

Invisible Bubble

The newest idea for flying cars, and the most
complicated, is the idea of putting the automobile in a sort of invisible
"bubble". The inside of this bubble it will be near weightlessness so that the car will, in a way, be constantley free fallling inside this bubble.
Another way to look at it is a zero-gravity bubble. While in the bubble, the car can float just like astronaunts do in outerspace. The bubble would be its own form of gravity, only surrounding the car.
While on the road, the vehicle will look and act just like any other car, but when it is ready to take flight, the bubble will expand out of the car and surround it allowing it to be lifted off the ground and be flown where ever the driver pleases. Unfortunately, there has not been much research done on the "invisible bubble" theory yet, so there are not too many facts supporting the idea or research.

Plane + Car

The simplest and most realistic way to make flying cars is by simply combining a plane and a car. Planes have changed the way we live and have made transportation much easier and quicker. Unfortunately, airplanes are much too expensive to sell to the general public. On the other hand, cars are affordable and get us from place to place but traffic slows us down. By combining these, transportation will become far more efficient. Engineers plan to create a car that can drive on the road but also can also fly in the sky by putting wings on the car that can fold out within seconds at just a press of a button. With an engine of a plane and propellers in the rear, the automobile will be able to fly just like a regular plane when in the air.
